ut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men som med alla underdog-historier finns det fortfarande m\u00e5nga hinder f\u00f6r Cavium ThunderX2 att \u00f6vervinna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det kan dr\u00f6ja innan den kan g\u00f6ra anspr\u00e5k p\u00e5 en verklig marknadsn\u00e4rvaro efter den officiella lanseringen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I den h\u00e4r artikeln g\u00e5r vi igenom vad som \u00e4r k\u00e4nt hittills och de viktiga m\u00e4tv\u00e4rdena att notera n\u00e4r du utv\u00e4rderar ThunderX2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cavium ThunderX2 Pris<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img class=\"wp-block-heading\">H\u00f6gpresterande datorsystem<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller h\u00f6gpresterande datorsystem (HPC) \u00e4r ThunderX2 imponerande.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caviums ThunderX2 presterar mycket bra i benchmarks som korrelerar med <span id=\"urn:enhancement-43dfe142\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"https:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01990\/entity\/computer_memory\">minne<\/span>-applikationer f\u00f6r prestanda med bunden bandbredd, till exempel OpenFOAM, Stream, CloverLeaf och TeaLeaf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den kommer dock till korta n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller ber\u00e4kningsbundna kodtester, som GROMACS och VASP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I princip alla tester som f\u00f6rlitar sig p\u00e5 cacheminnet visar sig vara mindre lovande.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ThunderX2 visar l\u00e4gre bandbredd f\u00f6r L1- och L2-cache samt l\u00e4gre FLOPS (Floating point throughput).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dessa begr\u00e4nsningar kan komma att l\u00f6sas i framtiden med SVE-aktiverade ARM:er (Scalable Vector Extension) som inneh\u00e5ller st\u00f6rre vektorenheter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ett ofta antaget hinder \u00e4r att HPC-koder redan \u00e4r mycket optimerade f\u00f6r x86, vilket g\u00f6r att de nyare ARM-implementeringarna inte \u00e4r lika effektiva i j\u00e4mf\u00f6relse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det \u00e4r som vissa kanske tror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e5nga appar l\u00e4mpar sig inte f\u00f6r topprestanda med effektiv anv\u00e4ndning av de bredare vektorerna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sammantaget \u00e4r st\u00f6d fr\u00e5n de vanliga misst\u00e4nkta f\u00f6r att hj\u00e4lpa till att fr\u00e4mja dess antagande.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ett omr\u00e5de som s\u00e4kert kommer att utg\u00f6ra ett hinder \u00e4r drifts\u00e4ttning i virtualiserade milj\u00f6er.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Du kan inte st\u00e4nga av en Xeon-baserad VM och starta upp den igen p\u00e5 ett ARM-system som du kan p\u00e5 ett annat Xeon-system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detta \u00e4r ingen liten sak, eftersom virtualisering nu \u00e4r normen med mer \u00e4n 75% av organisationer som anv\u00e4nder virtualiserade <span
